Earlier this year, a UE customer in the Philippines successfully installed a 13.5 kW hybrid rooftop solar system for the Department of Agriculture of Camarines Sur, benefiting many local agricultural cooperatives.
Project Background
Due to the challenges brought by the African swine fever virus, the Department of Agriculture of Camarines Sur decided to use solar energy systems to provide reliable electricity for fans, cooling systems, and pressurized water systems in pig farms, thereby revitalizing and strengthening local pig production by providing a clean and comfortable environment.

What is a Hybrid Solar System?
Solar panels convert sunlight into direct current (DC), which is then converted by an inverter into alternating current(AC) for home loads. Satisfies both buying and selling electricity at the same time, and extra power stored in batteries.
Core Advantage
- Energy Independence: Generates and stores electricity without relying on the national grid.
- High flexibility: Automatically switch to the grid when sunlight is insufficient or equipment maintenance is required.
- Stable Technology: Equipped with intelligent monitoring and automatic adjustment functions, low risk of failure
Save cost and long-term benefit: Priority use of free solar power, support selling extra power to the grid.
What we do?
In addition to ensuring the high quality of the product itself, UE's engineering team also attaches great importance to the reliability of the system and ensuring that the system can always maintain maximum power generation.
After confirming the accurate Google location, our engineers provided the customer with a detailed roof layout design and PV module strings connection electrical diagram to ensure that the system can perfectly maximize power generation every day.
At UE , detailed product's data sheets and user manuals are the most basic documents for our customers. Although our customer is a professional solar installer locally, UE still discussed with them and though online meetings to explore the product features, connection of AC side and DC side, using of safety accessories, countermeasures for system failure, and more!
We're happy to know that before the official handover, our customer provided a basic training to the cooperatives. This includes our basic troubleshooting tips. And help them manage any issues that may arise during system downtimes, ensuring peace of mind.
The Energy Challenges in the Philippines
Due to the complicated landscape of the Philippine archipelago and frequent typhoons, the national grid is extremely unstable, and power transmission between islands is often disrupted. As a result, most people have had to suffer through power outages and an unstable grid. On the other hand, over 60% of the Philippines' electricity comes from imported coal and oil, making local electricity prices as high as $0.19 to $0.25 per kilowatt-hour-the highest in Southeast Asia.
Project Achievements
This solar power system fully satisfies their energy needs. Solar energy becomes the main power source, with the grid only serving as a backup. According to feedback from local users, their electricity bills have been greatly reduced by up to 90%. Best of all, they no longer have to worry about power outages.
Conclusion
With abundant sunshine and a surging demand for renewable, the Philippines offers vast solar energy potential.
UE is committed to expanding our footprint here, partnering closely with local users. By addressing the market’s unique challenges—from island geography to grid instability—we deliver tailored solar solutions and aim to be the trusted partner for every energy need in the Philippines.
