Rising electricity costs are a major concern for hotels, where air conditioning, lighting, kitchens, laundry facilities, and other essential services operate throughout the day.
To help reduce electricity costs, Valencia Hotel in Manila, Philippines, installed a customized commercial solar-plus-storage system featuring approximately 86.9 kWp of solar panels, a 75 kW Solis hybrid inverter, and 144.69 kWh of battery storage.
The system is projected to generate approximately 350 kWh of solar electricity per day, or around 127.75 MWh annually. Based on a reference electricity rate of PHP 12/kWh, this generation represents a potential annual electricity cost offset of approximately PHP 1.53 million.
The project shows how a customized solar system can help commercial businesses make better use of available rooftop space and reduce their dependence on grid electricity.
Project Detail
Project Location: Manila, Philippines
Application: Hotel / Commercial Solar System
Solar Panel Capacity: Approximately 86.9 kWp
Solar Modules: 139 x 625W N-type TOPCon bifacial modules
Hybrid Inverter: 75 kW Solis
Battery Storage Capacity: 144.69 kWh
Estimated Daily Solar Generation: Approximately 350 kWh
Estimated Annual Solar Generation: Approximately 127.75 MWh
Reference Electricity Rate: PHP 12/kWh
Estimated Annual Electricity Cost Offset: Approximately PHP 1.533 million

The Challenge: High Electricity Costs and Limited Roof Space
Valencia Hotel consumes approximately 754 kWh of electricity per day, with roughly half of its consumption occurring during the daytime and the other half at night.
At a reference electricity rate of PHP 12/kWh, this equates to an estimated annual electricity expenditure of PHP 3.3 million.
For a hotel operating around the clock, electricity costs can significantly affect operating expenses. Reducing grid consumption without disrupting daily operations was therefore an important consideration for this project.
However, the hotel's rooftop could not accommodate the desired solar capacity. The project required a customized design that could make better use of additional roof space while supporting the hotel's energy needs.

The Solution: A Customized Multi-Roof Solar System
To address the space limitation, United Energy (UE) conducted a preliminary remote site assessment using Google Maps and satellite imagery.
The team evaluated the available rooftop dimensions, surrounding buildings, and potential PV layout to identify opportunities for expanding the solar installation.
After assessing the available space, UE developed a customized multi-roof layout that extended the PV array to two adjacent buildings. The final system comprises 139 x 625W N-type TOPCon bifacial solar modules, a 75 kW Solis hybrid inverter, and a 144.69 kWh high-voltage battery storage system.
Optimized PV Layout with Multiple MPPTs
The Solis inverter features 10 independent maximum power point trackers (MPPTs), supporting flexible PV string configuration across the available rooftop areas.
Although the rooftops have similar orientations, the number of modules installed on each roof differs. These differences make appropriate string design and MPPT allocation important for system performance.
By configuring the PV strings according to the rooftop layout, the system can track the maximum power point of different PV inputs, helping reduce mismatch losses and improve energy yield.
The result is a customized commercial solar system designed around the hotel's actual rooftop constraints rather than a standard, one-size-fits-all layout.

Key Components of the Solar-plus-Storage System
625 W N-type TOPCon bifacial solar modules
The system uses 139 bifacial modules, each rated at 625W, with a module efficiency of 23.3% and a 30-year power warranty. Their high power output helps make better use of the hotel's limited rooftop space.
75 kW Solis hybrid inverter
The 75 kW Solis hybrid inverter acts as the intelligent control center of the system, managing PV generation, battery charging/discharging, and grid interaction. With 10 MPPTs and 21 A per string, it supports high power yield. Its robust overload capability and intelligent control maximize the hotel’s economic returns.
144.69 kWh high-voltage battery storage system
The high-voltage lithium battery system uses EVE cells, with a stated 6,000-cycle life and a 10-year warranty. Its battery management system (BMS) monitors battery operation and provides battery management and protection.
Battery storage allows excess solar energy to be stored for later use, helping the hotel make better use of its solar generation when demand continues after sunset.
The system also includes an AC distribution cabinet, DC PV combiner box, meter, and CT to support electrical distribution and system monitoring.
Together, these core products create a reliable solar solution that helps Valencia Hotel maximize available roof space, capture more solar energy, and reduce long-term electricity costs.
Solar Generation and Estimated Savings Potential
Based on the latest project operation, the system generates:
Daily solar generation: Approximately 350kWh, 46.4% daily energy demand coverage
Annual solar generation: Approximately 127,750kWh
Potential annual electricity value: Approximately PHP 1.533 million, based on PHP 12/kWh
Customer Feedback
The customer shared their experience working with United Energy on multiple solar projects for hotels and gas stations:
“We have installed many PV projects provided by United Energy for our hotels and gas stations. These projects can achieve a payback period in as fast as 1.5 years, and at most 2.5 years. Moving forward, we will install solar energy storage systems in all our businesses, step by step.”
The customer's continued investment in solar and energy storage reflects their plan to expand the use of renewable energy across their business operations.
